Eric Rhein Born 1961
American, Photographer, sculptor

Eric Rhein was born in Cincinnati , Ohio and received his BFA in painting and sculpture from the School of Visual Arts in New York on a full scholarship. He later had a scholarship to Pratt Institute. His work has been seen in many galleries and at the Donnell Library Center of the New York Public Library. In 1987 he learned that he is HIV positive, an experience that has had a major influence on his art. His intricate, delicately woven structures are made of bronze, silver, gold filled steel wire, monofilament, and found objects. They are about "the ascension of the spirit and the residue that is left behind."
